The Department of Geography at University of Bonn Friedrich-Wilhelm is the largest and one of the most distinguished geography departments in Germany and has fourteen independent research units that encompass a wide variety of geographical topics. Geomorphology, Hydrology, Development Geographies, Remote Sensing, and Geoinformation are just a few examples of our wide choice of research fields in Human and Physical Geographies.

The Remote Sensing and GIS group at the department works with the validation, processing, and integrations of visual and microwave satellite data in regional models, in order to assess land use change, net primary production, or the ecological vulnerability of semiarid ecosystems.
